Guests are given a front door key to come & go as they please during the evenings.

We ask for a minimum 2 night stay over weekends, and across some rooms/periods throughout the year.  A 3-night minimum applies to Bank Holiday Weekends.

By Rail, Bus & Plane

The nearest local train station is Windermere ¾ ml from Glenville House and the main West Coast Line Station is Oxenholme 10mls from us.

There is a National Express coach stop at Windermere station.

Airports – Manchester 90mls, Leeds Bradford 75mls, & Newcastle 120mls.

Taxi pickups can be arranged from any of the stations or airports at a charge and booked via Glenville.

If you use public transport to get to the Lake District then car hire, bike hire or escorted trips can be arranged through us at Glenville House.

Directions By Road

Set Your Sat Nav To LA23 2EQ. We are at 44 Lake Road.

We are situated on Lake Road (A5074) halfway between the villages of Windermere and Bowness on Windermere.

From the South and East
From the M6 Junction 36 take A591 towards Windermere (14 miles). At Windermere Station / Tourist Information Centre turn left into Windermere village and follow the road through the village. Glenville is on the right

From Scotland and the North East
From the M6 Junction 40 take the A66 towards Keswick. Take either the A592 via Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass to Windermere or continue along the A66 to Threlkeld, turn left through St Johns in the Vale to Windermere on the A591 via Grasmere & Ambleside.

At the junction of the A591 & A592 head east towards Windermere and at Windermere Station / Tourist Information Centre turn right into Windermere village and follow the road through the village. Glenville is on the right.

We now have self check-in key safes from 3pm. Guests are welcome to check-in at the time that’s suits them best

We are not able to accommodate children, we are strictly 18 years plus; all of our rooms are for double occupancy.

We are not able to accommodate dogs, or any other pets at our accommodation, unless renting the whole property as a group.

We guarantee rooms to be ready by 3.00pm, but sometimes the room maybe ready from 1pm – just ask. Guests are welcome to make use of our car park from 11am.

We kindly ask for check-out by 10.30 am.

If you are traveling by train, please contact us when making your booking, to see if storage is available for those dates.

We offer free WiFi in all guest rooms.

We offer two kinds of stay. ROOM ONLY and BREAKFAST INCLUDED. If you have a booking with breakfast included, food is served between 8.30am and 9.00am.

Complimentary trays are placed in your room and are topped up daily.

There are a choice of restaurants within walking distance in Windermere (10 minute walk), and a wider choice in Bowness (15 minute walk/5 minute drive or taxi). We have a full list of recommendations for the area.
